Google Earth's time-lapse tool shows you 28 years of change in a few seconds

Google's Earth Engine lets you view two decades of environmental and population changes on Earth. Following is a transcript of the video.

Watch 28 years of change with Google's coolest mapping technology yet. Google's time-lapse tool captures how much our world has changed. It's called Google Earth Engine. The technology collects from the US Geological Survey's Landsat satellite. Creating a time-lapse from 1984 to 2012 of any location on Earth.

You can look at changes in locations like man-made islands in Dubai. Or shrinking glaciers in Alaska. The free technology is available online or as an API. Researchers have used the technology to analyze the changing world. And track environmental and population changes on Earth. What will you use it for?
